About this Tool

This tool is a simulation of the classic game of Checkers (also known as Draughts). You can play in two modes:

• 2 Player (Hot-seat): You and another person take turns playing on the same device.
• 1 Player (vs. AI): You play as Black against a computer opponent playing as Red.

Game Rules:

• Players: Black moves first. Players alternate turns.
• Movement: Regular pieces ("men") can only move one square diagonally forward.
• Capturing (Jumping): Jumps are forced. Multi-jumps are forced.
• Kings: When a piece reaches the opposite end, it becomes a King (👑 or themed king) and can move and capture diagonally forward and backward.
• Winning: You win when your opponent has no pieces left or no legal moves.
• Theme Persistence: Your chosen theme is saved in the URL (e.g., `#spring`). This means you can refresh the page or share the link, and the theme will automatically reload.
